Choosing courage over comfort!

Update: I started a candle company Q.Wick Candle Co. - I create hand poured, natural soy wax products infused with phthalate-free premium fragrance oils. My products align with my energetic & bold personality in hopes that they will spark BOLDNESS in someone's day!

Boldness to me is a willingness to take risks, being confident, and finding the courage to be brave. Like many, I struggled with finding ways to find joy during this pandemic as I was feeling overwhelmed with starting a new full-time sales role working from home and working on my Master of Business Administration. I began looking for an outlet that would not only bring me but others happiness. I have always loved candles and would buy them anytime I saw one and got to thinking "I bet I could do that!"

After doing some research and experimenting, I began gifting my candles to family and friends in hopes to brighten their days. This very qwickly turned into something I never expected! I started receiving messages on my social media asking if I was selling these candles, so I created some survey polls on my Instagram page to gauge interest in my candles. I was shocked by the responses I received and knew that at that moment I needed to find the courage to be BOLD and take the next step.

Being that wicks are the most important component of a candle and all my friends call me Q - I felt the name Q.Wick was only fitting. My amazing friend Eliza Hepner helped me bring this brand to life by creating a logo and beautiful label designs. She has been a wonderful support in making magic happen in just a short time and for putting up with all my crazy ideas.

I got my website launched right before the Holiday and started seeing the overwhelming support from family members, coworkers, and friends in placing orders, sharing my posts, and sending me words of encouragement. It has been a little over 3 months since I started selling my candles and wax melts and not only have I been getting personal orders but I am now also being sold in a flower shop, creamery, and three clothing boutiques in the Cedar Rapids Corridor area.

I can't thank everyone for the support in pushing me to continuously chose courage over comfort!

Lots of love, Q.
